Mari-Jane Shaffer is a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner at Advaita Integrated Medicine in Raleigh, North Carolina. Specifically, she is a post masters’ certificate prepared advanced practice nurse. She has been a registered nurse for 38 years and a nurse practitioner for 8 years. After working with patients in a variety of settings as an RN for 28 years, she decided to pursue a Master of Science in Nursing degree at Duke University specializing in Family Practice.

As a Family Nurse Practitioner, she realized that working with patients on their mental health was pivotal in order for them to achieve optimal wellness. She then completed a post masters’ certificate in psychiatric mental health nursing at East Carolina University. She is dual certified in both family practice/primary care and psychiatric-mental health. She has worked with military families and retirees, at community health centers and in private practice with diverse patient populations.

Mari-Jane enjoys working with patients of all ages to help them achieve optimal wellness. She works diligently with patients across the lifespan (children, adolescents, adults) on all aspects of mental and physical health care. Mari-Jane is passionate about integrated care and caring for the whole person. This process involves mutual respect, open communication, and individual goal setting.
