Medical Director

Dr. Alexandra Spesso, MD is the Triangle Medical Director at Advaita Integrated Medicine. She is a board certified adult psychiatrist, a colleague, a mother, a spouse, and a daughter. She is both a teacher and a student. She brings all of these perspectives, and more, to her day-to-day work.

Dr. Spessot received her undergraduate education at Johns Hopkins University, after which she obtained a medical degree from Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons. She then completed residency training in general psychiatry at Duke University School of Medicine.

Prior to joining Advaita, Dr. Spessot held multiple leadership roles in federal and community health organizations and practiced in a wide variety of medical settings.

Taking an individualized approach to care, Dr. Spessot utilizes an approach that might include medication management, psychotherapy, lifestyle interventions, or other treatment modalities. Through her work at AIM, Dr. Spessot is deeply invested in making high-quality, evidence-based, innovative mental health care accessible and affordable to as many people as possible.
