Too many people put off getting help with their mental health because they assume it’s going to be complicated, expensive, or hard to access. At Advaita Integrated Medicine, we want to change that. We’re in-network with Aetna and have providers across three Triangle-area locations — with appointments typically available within a week.
Whether you’re navigating depression, anxiety, addiction, trauma, bipolar disorder, or something else, our team is here to get you where you want to be in life. We’ve built a practice around one simple idea: expert mental health care should be available to everyone, not just those who can afford to pay out of pocket.
Our providers work with Aetna plans across a full spectrum of mental health needs. Here’s who you’ll find on our team:
Psychiatrists Psychiatrists are fully licensed medical doctors who have completed specialized training in mental health. They assess and diagnose mental health conditions, develop treatment plans, and prescribe and manage psychiatric medications.
Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners (PMHNPs) PMHNPs can do everything you’d expect from a psychiatrist — evaluate your symptoms, reach a diagnosis, and manage your medications. They just got there through a nursing background instead of medical school. The level of care you receive is exactly the same.
Psychiatric Physician Assistants (Psychiatric PAs) Psychiatric PAs are highly trained clinicians who work exclusively in mental health. They can evaluate symptoms, reach a diagnosis, and manage medications. Like our PMHNPs, Psychiatric PAs deliver the same standard of personalized, high-quality care you’d find across our entire team.
Therapists / Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSWs) Our therapists and LCSWs work with you through talk therapy and evidence-based counseling approaches. They’re skilled in helping people work through a wide range of emotional and behavioral challenges.
Every provider we bring on — regardless of their title or credential — is here because they’re genuinely good at what they do and deeply committed to patient care. We’ve intentionally built adiverse team so that we can match you with the right provider for your specific situation, not just whoever happens to be available.
Yes — under federal law, Aetna is required to cover mental health and substance use services at the same level as physical health care. Your specific coverage, copays, and out-of-pocket costs will depend on the plan you’re enrolled in.
Here’s what Aetna typically covers:
Psychiatry & Medication Management Initial psychiatric evaluations, medication check-ins, and ongoing follow-up visits are covered under most Aetna plans. Depending on your plan, a copay or deductible may apply — but staying in-network with a provider like us is the most reliable way to keep those costs down.
Therapy & Counseling Aetna covers individual therapy, group therapy, and family counseling on most plans. Session limits can vary, but when treatment is deemed medically necessary, many plans will continue coverage for as long as your provider recommends.Â
TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) TMS is a non-invasive, FDA-cleared treatment that uses targeted magnetic pulses to stimulate areas of the brain connected to mood — with no medication required. Aetna covers TMS for patients who meet clinical criteria, typically those who haven’t responded well to antidepressants. Our team will confirm your eligibility and verify coverage before treatment begins.Â
Telehealth / Virtual Psychiatry Most Aetna plans cover virtual mental health visits, meaning you can connect with your psychiatrist or medication provider by video from wherever you are in North Carolina — your home, your office, anywhere that works for you.
Outpatient Programs For those who need a more structured level of support than weekly appointments can provide, Aetna covers the following programs when clinically recommended:
