Julie Kimball, MSW, LCSW is a clinical therapist at Advaita Integrated Medicine in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. She graduated from NC State University with a Bachelors in Social Work. For graduate school, Julie attended Boston University and there, she received her Masters in Social Work. When the Chapel Hill office opened in summer of 2024, Julie felt eager to practice there and continue her work with AIM.
Julie has spent her career working in Addiction Treatment Centers, Community Mental Health, and a decade providing therapy to adults. She is passionate about working with individuals and families struggling with drug, alcohol, or other addictions and helping them to find recovery in a way that is meaningful for them. She is an active participant in the therapy process and always draws specifically from client strengths. Julie uses various treatment modalities including, but not limited to, cognitive-behavioral therapy, motivational enhancement therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy. She strives to provide an atmosphere that is accepting, non-judgmental and empowering. Julie has extensive experience with drug or alcohol addictions/recovery, anxiety, navigating divorce and co-parenting, grief and loss. She also is trained in EMDR.
Julie is passionate about helping her clients find and connect with their authentic self while pushing them to meet their stated goals. She sees therapy and prioritizing mental health as a courageous step towards self-transformation and is always honored to play a part in that process.
