Kayla Fenty, MSW, LCSW-A, LCAS-A, is a clinical therapist at the Advaita Collective in Raleigh, North Carolina, where she offers outpatient therapy and facilitates their substance use IOP program. She serves as a Primary Therapist at Green Hill Recovery, their substance use treatment program for young adult males. She graduated from Binghamton University in Binghamton NY with her Bachelors in Psychology then her Masters in Social Work. She has spent her career working in addiction centers at various levels of care, from residential treatment to outpatient treatment. She has spent the past 3 years of her career providing individualized treatment to individuals struggling with mental health and substance use disorder.

Kayla is passionate about examining how sociocultural factors impact our wellbeing. She has been engaged in research on the traumatic effects of incarceration and how that impacts mental health and substance use disorder treatment. She is currently scheduled to speak at Fellowship Hall and the NC chapter of the National Association of Social Workers.

Kayla is passionate about being an advocate for individuals seeking treatment by empowering them to use their voices to speak about what they need from their loved ones and other healthcare providers. She sees therapy as a brave and vulnerable step towards a client’s goals and their future, and wants to make it a safe and comfortable experience for the client. She uses a variety of treatment modalities including cognitive
behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and motivational interviewing (MI).

She is deeply supportive about using a holistic approach to therapy and breaking down the barriers of stigma. Kayla wants her role at the Advaita Collective to challenge the stigma of mental health and substance use disorder treatment and celebrate the courageous step that it is.
