Family Nurse Practitioner
Laura “Liz” Downey, MSN, FNP-C, is a Family Nurse Practitioner at Advaita Integrated Medicine. She provides psychiatric evaluation and medication management for patients at at the Chapel Hill location and remotely via telehealth. Liz has worked as a Nurse Practitioner since 2020. She has a passion for whole-person centered healthcare and believes in establishing collaborative relationships with her clients. Prior to going into nursing, Liz worked in environmental public health.
Liz received her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She completed the Carolina Nurse Practitioner Residency program supported by an HRSA grant through the UNC Chapel Hill School of Nursing. Her training in the NP Residency focused on integrating behavioral healthcare into primary care. Liz has previously worked on a research grant developing training modules for Nurse Practitioners related to substance use, mental health, and whole-person centered care. Her background also includes a Bachelor of Science in Public Health and an Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing with highest honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Liz is passionate about providing whole-person centered care for clients. She believes this approach to mental and physical health should include medication management in addition to holistic approaches, such as mindfulness, stress reduction, meditation, physical activity, and nutrition. With empathy, Liz brings a collaborative approach to client care. She partners with clients to set goals with the aim to improve overall well-being.
