Clinical Therapist

Shannon D’Ambrosio, LCMHCA, CRC, is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate and Certified Rehabilitation Counselor who provides individual therapy for adults at Advaita Integrated Medicine.

She earned her Master of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling from East Carolina University after completing her bachelor’s degree in Animal Science at North Carolina State University. Shannon is committed to creating a warm, collaborative environment where clients feel safe exploring life’s challenges and working toward meaningful change. She provides therapy both in person and through telehealth.

Shannon’s path to counseling began in research, where she worked as a research assistant in the Kash Lab at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill studying the effects of alcohol use on the brain. During graduate school, she transitioned into clinical work, serving individuals experiencing severe and persistent mental illness as well as chronic substance use in a community mental health setting. She has since spent the past several years working with clients in private practice, helping individuals navigate anxiety, trauma, OCD, chronic illness, ADHD, life transitions, relationship concerns, and identity development. Shannon is also a member of the American Counseling Association.

Shannon believes therapy should be a place where clients feel genuinely heard, accepted, and supported. She approaches treatment with warmth, curiosity, empathy, and humor while tailoring care to each person’s unique experiences and goals.

Drawing from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), psychodynamic therapy, and other evidence-based approaches, she works collaboratively with clients to build practical coping skills, strengthen resilience, and create lasting change.

Shannon is especially passionate about serving LGBTQIA+ individuals, people living with chronic illness or chronic pain, and those navigating major life transitions.
