Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
Taylor Washington, DNP, PMHNP-BC, is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who provides psychiatric care for adults and older adults at Advaita Integrated Medicine.
She earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice in Nursing Leadership and Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she also completed a Bachelor of Science in Psychology.
Licensed in North Carolina and certified through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), Taylor is passionate about helping people better understand their mental health and find treatment plans that fit their unique needs.
Taylor has cared for individuals with a wide range of mental health conditions throughout her career. Her background includes providing comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and psychotherapy, as well as caring for patients with complex mental health and substance use disorders in an inpatient setting.
She also gained valuable experience in acute care and COVID-19 nursing, which strengthened her ability to remain calm, adaptable, and compassionate in challenging situations. Her commitment to the nursing profession has been recognized through honors including the National Black Nurses Association’s 40 Under 40 Award, Staff Nurse of the Year, and selection as a SAMHSA Fellow.
Taylor believes the best care starts with listening. She takes time to understand each person’s story, goals, and challenges before working together to create an individualized treatment plan.
She combines evidence-based medication management with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness practices, and practical lifestyle strategies when appropriate.
Her goal is to create a welcoming environment where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered to make meaningful, lasting improvements in their mental health and overall wellbeing.
