Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

Meagan Hargreaves is a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with more than 15 years of experience in the behavioral health field. She completed her education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and has dedicated her career to helping individuals navigate mental health challenges with compassion, dignity, and evidence-based care. Her professional experience spans community mental health, behavioral health urgent care, and inpatient psychiatry, providing her with a comprehensive understanding of mental health treatment across a variety of settings and levels of care.

Throughout her career, Meagan has worked with individuals facing complex psychiatric conditions, supporting patients through some of their most challenging moments while helping them build stability and hope for the future. Her clinical experience includes treating substance use disorders, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety disorders, and depression. Working across diverse populations has strengthened her ability to tailor treatment plans to each person’s unique needs, goals, and circumstances.

Meagan is passionate about building meaningful relationships with the individuals she serves. She believes effective psychiatric care begins with listening and understanding the person behind the symptoms. Her approach is grounded in empathy, collaboration, and respect, creating an environment where patients feel comfortable discussing their concerns and actively participating in their treatment.

During initial appointments, she focuses on gaining a thorough understanding of each patient’s history, experiences, and goals, then works collaboratively to develop a treatment plan that supports long-term wellbeing.

What drew Meagan to behavioral health was a desire to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives and help reduce the stigma surrounding mental health challenges. She believes mental health deserves the same attention and care as physical health and is committed to helping individuals better understand their conditions while building the skills and supports needed for lasting wellness. Her goal is to help patients move beyond symptom management and toward lives that feel more stable, connected, and fulfilling.

Outside of work, Meagan enjoys spending time with her family, going for walks, traveling, and reading.
