Mental Health Therapist-Cary

Hannah Apostolico is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate who provides outpatient therapy at Advaita Integrated Medicine’s Cary location.

She earned her Master of Science in Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and holds dual bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Languages, Literatures, and Cultures (Spanish) from Appalachian State University.

Hannah is passionate about helping individuals better understand themselves, navigate life’s challenges, and build meaningful, fulfilling lives aligned with their values.

Hannah has experience providing therapy to children, adolescents, adults, couples, families, and groups across a variety of clinical settings. She has received training in multiple evidence-based treatment approaches, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), with a particular clinical interest in treating obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).

Her work is grounded in trauma-informed, culturally responsive care that recognizes the unique experiences and identities each person brings to therapy.

Her academic and professional interests have consistently focused on improving access to mental health care for underserved communities. During her undergraduate studies, Hannah completed research examining barriers to mental health treatment among Hispanic and Latino populations in the United States. In graduate school, her master’s paper explored effective approaches for treating OCD within LGBTQ+ populations. These experiences, combined with her personal and cultural background, continue to shape her commitment to providing affirming and accessible care.

Hannah believes that each person is the expert in their own life. She strives to create a therapeutic space that feels safe, authentic, collaborative, and affirming. Her role is to walk alongside clients as they develop insight, process difficult experiences, strengthen coping skills, and move toward the life they want to build. She works with individuals experiencing OCD, anxiety, trauma, depression, ADHD, autism, life transitions, self-esteem concerns, body image challenges, relationship difficulties, and identity-related concerns. She also provides couples and family counseling.

As a lesbian-identifying clinician, Hannah is especially passionate about supporting LGBTQ+ individuals and helping clients feel seen, understood, and accepted. Her approach balances warmth with directness, tailoring therapy to each client’s unique goals and needs while fostering trust, curiosity, and growth throughout the therapeutic process.

Outside of work, Hannah enjoys hiking, singing, theater, reading, trying new restaurants and coffee shops, playing pickleball, and spending time with loved ones.
